Rants, Raves and Laughs

So I'm back on board to this blogging thing. I need a place where I can write down all the bumblebees that are buzzing in my head... So a few things to note:

1. My beloved bike was stolen Mon. night. It is a 2004 Cannondale F400. It had been chained up at our house and whoever decided that their want/need for a bike or the money, cut the chain and ran. Too bad that was my baby. I was just getting into cycling and loving it! It had my kit, pump, helmet and gloves attached, and apparently as they were running they dropped one of my gloves on the ground. Too bad it's not like the cinderella story because I'd love to get my bike back. Can I just say how amazingly cute my husband is though.... I was so sad all day and had to go to school, when I got back in the afternoon to be home with him, he wasn't there. About a half hour later he came through the door, hugged me and handed me a check. He had given plasma to help earn the money to buy a new bike, and he said he will donate for two months straight so we can have the money to buy a new bike!! I wanted to cry! I love him! So alas, there is not much we can do , but if you happen to see a bike around like this please let me know!

2. I was given a scholarship this past year and had to go to a luncheon up at Rice Eccles Stadium today for it. I was all excited because, hey free lunch! I was expected a fairly nice array of food, but much to my chagrin, all we had was a small salad with half a piece of grilled chicken on it. At least the cheesecake was divine. So on the way down, our PT group was headed out the door. Now just picture a big glass wall with a door. I was just looking forward, following my friend Alison and talking when all of a sudden, WHAM!! my face plastered into this invisible glass wall. I about died of laughter, actually all of us were crying for about ten minutes. I thought it was bad enough having a group of my friends from school there, but just as I hit the wall a group of scholarship donors emerged from the elevator to see my amazing stunt. One of the ladies commented "Well, I guess she really needs the money" Sad! but hey, if that's what it takes to keep getting scholarships, bring on the glass doors!!! Such good times. I told everyone I was just trying to sympathize with the birds....

3. I am feeling amazingly overwhelmed as of late. I decided to take on a million extracurricular activities as well as responsibilities for school thinking it would be great ways of doing service. Don't get me wrong, I love giving of my time, but oh how it is stretching me thin. I am a co team-leader for a humanitarian group called YouthLinc (youthlinc.org), we are going down to Mexico for two weeks next summer and I'm heading the trip with Alison. Also, I am starting a volunteer program with the TRAILS program up at the U, which is a recreational/educational program for people with spinal cord injuries. I'm the Public Relations officer for my class, and therefore am in charge of the clothing orders for this year...didn't think it would take so much time. I was called to be the 2nd counselor in the RS about a month ago. Lots of responsibility, but I love our ward! I'm working about 15-20 hrs/wk and on top of that am working on my Doctoral Project so I can get my IRB proposal in. Wow, that's a lot. Not that I can't handle it but it definitely has it's moments of stress.

Ok, I think for now that novel is enough. really things are good and life happens :)
