Happy Anniversary!!

Yes it has been one year (okay and a few weeks) since we both said yes over the alter. I think we have both learned about ourselves and each other more than we thought possible. We have had lots of fun, and have also been frustrated as well, but so goes life. To help us celebrate our time together, Pete actually lost his job the day before our anniversary. Needless to say, he was a little on edge. But we both decided it was our 1st Anniversary, and this only comes around once, so we celebrated anyway.

Thankfully, it was a Saturday so we had all day without obligation. We went to the temple in the morning to help us remember those covenants we had made to each other and the Lord. We have decided to make that a tradition if possible. It was good to bring those feelings back. After the temple we wanted to have some fun, so we went to the Hogle Zoo. It was such a nice day out, that we were even wearing shorts and t-shirts. (not like the hail storms we got the day of our wedding). we caught some monkeys fighting on video, so we thought we'd share, and some other fun adventures. We even took the $1 train ride.. which wasn't really worth the $1. Hungry from hours spent mammal gazing, Pete took me to a middle eastern restaurant called Mazza. If you haven't gone, go. It's incredible. The ambience is so unique. It is very middle-eastern in color and decor, and has nice glasses and tableclothes at each table, but the crowd is a mix from the very eloquently dressed to the grungy urban outfitters fixie crew. We spent the night at the Radisson downtown which made us fall in love with the SleepNumber bed all over again. Seriously, I haven't slept that well in a while.

Overall, it was a really fun, relaxing day and I'm glad I got to spend it with my best friend. Here's to more anniversaries to come! I love you babe!

Pete's 25 Things

1. I spend my time of thinking in this manner:
-40% thinking about being a superhero(how fast could i climb that building, jump off and land on the car),
-20% work(mostly how can i change the lives of people who don't want them changed and why am i trying?how long do i have to do this?),
-20%school(i love spreadsheets,revenue, expendetures...),
-10% calculating meaningless things (i.e. 38 cars have passed me in the last 15 minutes meaning that they pass at a rate of aproximately 2.53 cars a minute, 11 of them are american, 29 foreign, if the average car costs...and so on),
-and 5% having some kind o song in my head, mostly reggae or hip-hop
-oh yeah, and i will give you a million bucks to know where the other 5% goes.

2. when people ask me what i am thinking it is either too rude to tell them or completely off topic, so i tell them that i am not thinking about anything.

3. i would kind of like it if the economy fails, but i understand on paper why it would be bad.its kinda like when i was 5ish and pushed Jay down the stairs. Mom asked why and i simply said "I wanted to see what would happen". I would rather keep balance sheets on a trade society;58 oranges rather than 18million dollars. I think it might teach people a lesson if they loose the current system.

4. I love learning/teaching about history, i think it dispells people's stupidbeliefs and replaces those beliefs with a more level veiw.I mean if everyone knew anything about the Kush dynasty would there be KKK? Dunno but i think it's worth a shot.

5. I love my wife. No i mean REALLY love my wife. She is comepletely opposite of everything i ever wanted and that makes her that much better! I have grown more by being with her than by all the teaching and instruction i have ever recieved.

6.I love traveling! if i could get paid to do it i would. Bon and i have made it a goal to save and take at least one international trip a year ( which believe me, on a social work salary is no small feat). we did a few countries in south america last year and we are doing Jamaica this year.

7. i love quotes, one liners, whatever. I remember quotes that i hear easily, and it bugs bon. a few good ones "My one great talent is to want but little."-Thoreau, "I'll be the water wings that save you when you start drowning.."-DCFC "Freedom is only freedom if it allows for the freedom to make mistakes" - the Dahli Llama ( probably mispelled that....oh yeah

8. I'm a horrible speller. people ask me to spell things and i lie because i cant spell worth beans. I have learned that

9. I can lie really well, ok well not bad lies...not the BIG lies...just little lies here and there. I have found that if i say something with enough confidence, people believe me. I like it, its naughty but i have curbed it to a point where i only lie about things that don't really matter like the spelling of words.

10. I can sleep anywhere, anytime. If there were sleeping Olympics i would be there. maybe like silver, there are some freaks out there so probably not gold, but definately on the podium.

11. I parkour. its fun.

12. My biggest worry in life is that i won't matter and i wont meet my own personal goals. I don't want to be someone on a census or death record 100 years from now. I want to do something right enough that someone could look back and say " that guy did something".

13. I LOVE WATER and STORMS!!! one of the coolest things i have ever seen or been in was a hurricane in miami! it was like the devil was in the clouds for like 20 minutes! i miss the ocean all the time.consequently i live in a dessert. yeah it doesn't make a lot of sense to me either but i learned a long time ago that

14. I am highly unmotivated, so i find ways to motivate myself. I give myself 'rewards' or 'bonuses' when i do big things i don't like to. As soon as i am done with my schooling my reward is to get to move somewhere with an ocean, thats my reward.

15. i don't like being around old people because of the smell and i don't like having physical contact with them for the same reason. Luckily my grandparents smell great, especially grandpa monson ( old spice). After i hug an old person i can smell their death smell on me and it freaks me out. I have a ninja sense of smell.

16 i want to be violent twoards people who ridiculously mis-pronounce words. My boss constantly uses the word plethora as 'plethoria' and she over-uses the word anyway. Or people from Washington who say 'I have to go WARSH my clothes' or people who say HEIGHTH, no 'H' on the end!

17. I love competition! even if i know i am going to loose (which happens often) i love it. I belive that the foundations of human spirit can be displayed most clearly in competition. I think that 90% of Bonni and mine arguments are simply to win, not the subject we arguing. Its kinda fun.

18. i am a closet Hippy. One of the major reasons for me trading in the truck for a bike was because i was concerned about our household carbon footprint. I purchase clean energy credits because it makes me feel better. I even like hanging out in coffe shops. I don't believe in global warming, but i am all about awareness and conservation. and i like meat, it keeps me grounded.

19.I am half spanish, not Latino. My bio-dad immigrated from spain at the age of 13. I don't know anything about my herritage, but i am trying to learn spanish and get in touch with that side of my spanish-ness.

20. I have a complicated family, but i love them. My brothers especially are some of my most trusted and reliable friends anyone could ask for.

21. My favorite meal is black beans and rice. I know people who have lived places where this meal is had everyday and they say it would get old, i say they are full of crap.

22.I love big cities. I love the dirt and grime, poor people and rich people living incredibly close. I really want to live in a big city, but i love the solice of the woods.

23. I love movies that make me think. I don't like fluffy movies.

24. I think most people fail in life because they don't try hard enough. there are a ton of smart people out there and it kills me when they are unmotivated lazy while average guys like me are trying to keep up. on the other hand people who just decide they are fine with their state and don't need to better themselves are as equally ridiculous.

25. I am no longer the most pesimistic person i know. for a lot of years i was and that was just sad. i changed and things are much better. be happy, its hard but fun.
